ASUS will be launching its new product in India, the Asus ZenBook Pro 15 UX850 which comes with all new ScreenPad, a touchpad composed of an LCD touchscreen and is ASUS latest innovation that is designed to enhance efficiency through effortless control.
Talking about the design, the ZenBook Pro’s design remains mostly unchanged from that of previous ZenBooks, with just a few tweaks. It comes with a brushed finish on the inside which helps hide fingerprints and smudges on the laptop.
Touchpads have long been a staple of laptops since their introduction in 1992 but since then, besides better accuracy and software-based gesture support, there just hasn’t been much innovation. ASUS has decided to move forward and develop a more responsive and adaptable touchpad that can provide task-specific functionalities to improve users everyday interactions with their laptops, whether for work or for play. It is a 5.5” Full HD Super IPS+ panel which also works as the touchpad & has a toolbar at the top that contains an app launcher, including built-in support for YouTube and Spotify, as well as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It can also mirror a smartphone on your PC with the Asus Sync app.
Asus is pushing the displays on the 15-inch model, which it says are its first to be Pantone validated 4K multi-touch Display, and is also claiming 132 percent sRGB coverage and 178-degree viewing angles. Additionally, the audio is Harmon Kardon certified, so we were satisfied with the audio on the ZenBook UX580.
The Use of the ScreenPad comes in the form of Apps that have been specifically designed for it. There are Apps like Calendar, Calculator and a few others that have been designed to be easily accessible from the ScreenPad and work on that surface only. With the Adobe Reader Sign extension, you can sign PDF documents by writing your signature on ScreenPad and saving it with the document. During my usage, the ScreenPad felt like a very functional feature that needed maybe one or two aspects tweaked for better usability & experience.
The ZenBook Pro 15 is designed for demanding professionals & that’s the reason it features up to a super-fast 8th generation Intel Core i9-8950HK hexa-core processor with powerful GTX 1050TI graphics, up to 4K multi-touch Display, 16GB of high-speed 2400MHz memory, and up to a 1TB PCIe-based SSD with up to 3.2GB/s read speeds. It also comes in a different variant with Intel Core i7-8750H processor & GTX 1050TI Graphics. Due to the powerful Intel Core i9-8950HK Processor delivering performance to its limits, ASUS has gone with a dual fan cooling system with three heat pipes to keep the processors cool & for Battery, ASUS has gone with 8-cell battery design for long-lasting Battery Life.
