Google & Micromax to launch first Android Go Edition Smartphone this month for Rs 2,000
Google announced the Android Go Edition which is the trim down version of the Android for budget-centric Devices with a low amount of RAM. According to a Report, Google is partnering with Various Indian Smartphone makers to roll out Android Go Edition Device from Early 2018.
According to a Recent Report, Google has partnered with Micromax, Lava, Intex to launch Android Go Smartphones in early 2018, a further report claims that Micromax will be the first Vendor to launch the Android Go Edition Smartphone based on Android 8.0 (Oreo). The price of the first Go edition smartphone is said to be $31 (Rs. 1970 approx). These smartphones are aimed at those who are on tight budget and those who are planning on shifting from feature phones to Android eco-system.
Half of all phones sold in India, be they smart or feature phones, are under the $32 mark. The Go phones, however, will have the advantage of a true and pure Google experience.They will have 1GB of RAM (or even half) and as little as 8GB of storage – dedicated slimmed-down versions of Google’s core apps make this possible. Chip makers Qualcomm and MediaTek are helping optimize their chips for the best Go performance too.
The latest Android Oreo (Go edition) is specially optimized for the entry-level handsets and it includes better performance along with built-in data management features and security benefits. The brand has also designed a new set of Google apps including includes Google Go, Google Assistant Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, Gboard, Google Play, Chrome, and the new Files Go app, which are meant to be lighter and it will smoother on the entry-level devices. Further, Google has created a new section that recommends popular apps that are tuned to run well on entry-level smartphones.
